Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Crimea on Saturday for a visit, Russian public television announced.
On a surprise visit to Sevastopol, the main port of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet on the peninsula, Putin visited an art school with local governor Mikhail Razugayev, according to images broadcast by Russia-1 TV channel.
“Our President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, knows how to surprise, in the good sense of the word,” Razugayev wrote on the Telegram app.
He confirmed that an art school for children was scheduled to open today, Saturday, with the participation of the Russian President via video.
“But Vladimir Vladimirovich came personally, drove his car himself, because on a historic day like today, he is always on the side of Sevastopol and its people,” Razugayev added.
