Under the new policy, the officials said, an additional Rs 20,000 relief sum will be given to the families of martyrs of the police force for the purchase of farmland and for the purchase of farmland within three years amounting to two acres of land. • Exemption from stamp duty and registration fees is granted. Officials said that the amount of compensation awarded to villagers for killing, wounding and property damage by the Naxalites has been doubled. He said if the government service is not provided, an additional sum of Rs 15,000 will be given for the purchase of agricultural land and exemption will be given in stamp duty or registration fees on land of up to two acres for the purchase of agricultural land in three years. The officials said that if a Maoist surrendered with a gun, he would get 50 rupees instead of 5 rupees per cartridge. He told the officials that an sum of 25,000 rupees would be given to each Naxalite for surrendering.

He said that when a Naxalite was delivered with a reward of Rs 5,000 or more, an amount of Rs 10,000 would be awarded separately (this amount would be in addition to the reward amount announced above and the amount of compensation payable in lieu of a surrendered weapon). In the new policy, he said, victims of other states are now eligible for compensation.
